The ps3 is better. It has amazing online the rivals xbox live and it is completely free. The xbox does have more games but only because it was out a year earlier, and because it has more games doesn't mean it has better games than the ps3. the ps3 has a unique game library. Racing: Gran Turismo 5 Prologue, Stealth: METAL GEAR SOLID 4, plus some really amazing down loadable games at the Playstation Store like Pixel Junk Eden. Many belive the PS3 s more expenise but for the features compared to the xbox its cheaper.

Before I start explaining on which system you should get, I want to let you know that I have both systems. Its better to talk to a person who had experience with both systems…

Here we go, based on my experience, I recommend you the PS3

Why? Well here’s why…

- Sony had 2 successful consoles that sold over 200 million combined, so they have the best experience with gaming consoles

- To these people who say that Xbox 360 has better games, that’s no longer true… Since 2007 PS3 had  AAA titles that were released. Heavenly Sword, Ratchet and Clank, Uncharted, Metal Gear Solid 4, etc.

- Xbox 360 was released in 2005, and its potential has been maxed out in 2006, a year later from launch, with Gears of War- here is what GeOW looks like (http://guides.gamepressure.com/gearsofwa... no games will look better than this game. - PS3 was released in 2006, and its potential is nowhere near its full potential. Look at Metal Gear Solid 4-

- PS3 supports FULL 1080p resolution. Xbox 360 can’t display 1080p but it can upscale to 1080p but you can see a big difference between true 1080p(PS3) and upscaled 1080p(xbox 360) Also another thing, PS3 supports HDMI 1.3 which has richer colors and better quality while xbox 360 supports HDMI 1.2 which is outdated HDMI…

- With PS3, you are not getting just a gaming console, you are also getting a Blu-Ray drive. Blu-ray is the next-gen DVD. Xbox had a HD-DVD drive add-on for $200 but now HD-DVD is dead because people chose Blu-Ray as their Hi-Def format.

- PS3 games are produced on Blu-ray Disc. There are different capacities for Blu-ray- 25gb and 50gb. However they are coming out with 100gb discs and it will be fully compatible with PS3’s Blu-Ray drive. With the huge storage, developers can add more content, better graphics, and make a longer game. Xbox 360 uses DVD-9 which only holds 9gb. Developers are starting to complain that DVD is not big enough for games.

- Both systems offer online game however you have to pay $50 to subscribe for Xbox Live while Playstation Network offers the same exact features for free. XBL uses P2P- here is how P2P works(http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/co... so if someone has a bad connection, then the whole game will be laggy.  Basically you are paying $50 for your own bandwidth.  PSN has dedicated servers(http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/co... so if one has a bad connection, it will not affect the game at all. Again PSN is free.

- Xbox 360 has a reported 33% chance of breaking down… PS3 reported to have .01% chance of breaking down. This might have an impact on your decision…

Well I used to say 360 but the tides are turning and PS3 is now my favorite console. The online is getting much better and its free. I don't know where all these people are saying 360 has more games. Does 360 have more games?  Yes, BUT most of them aren't that great. Theres Gears, Fable series, and a couple others and that the only good exclusives they have and Halo 3 sucked hard. Ps3 has all the titles I am looking for from here on out. The only time I'm going to use my 360 is when Gears 2 comes out because that game is sick lol. I'm no fanboy of either console though but I just think from here on out that the PS3 is going to be the console to have. Its going to do to the 360 what the PS2 did to the Dreamcast. Everyone said the Dreamcast was better because it had online, it had better games and it was cheaper.... does that sound familiar? One thing I've learned in life is that History always repeats itself.

PS3 is way better

- ps3 has a built-in blu-ray player (360 does not)

- ps3 has much more and better exclusives, most of them cant go to xbox 360 because it cant handle that many data(DVD- 8.5gb, blu-ray 50gb)

- because of the blu-ray's huge space, ps3 will have WAY better graphics than 360

- online is free for ps3 not like 360

- you can browse the internet on ps3, no such thing for xbox 360

- built in Wi-Fi ( not on 360)

- xbox 360: 33% hardware failure

ps3: .2% hardware failure(see the decimal? less than 1%!)

- ps3 has better back-comp except the 40gb

- xbox 360 already has been maxed out to its potential with gears of war. ps3 has not been maxed out yet- look at uncharted drakes fortune, better graphics than gears and its only 30% of ps3’s potential

- you can upgrade your harddrive without voiding warranties with any 2.5 HDD, which xbox cant because you have to buy a xbox HDD

Now I want you to do me a favor, list all the reasons why xbox is better than ps3. I PROMISE you that nobody will get at least 5 reasons

Just compare exclusives. Playstation has Resistance, Uncharted, Warhawk, Heavenly Sword, Motorstorm, Haze, Gran Turismo 5, Rachet and Clank, Metal Gear 4 and many sports games.

Xbox has Halo ( 2 of 3 are also on PC), Gears of War(also on PC), Mass Effect(Also on PC, starting to see a trend?) and Fable. Bioshock, oh wait, nevermind, PS3 is getting it in the Fall. 3 of its 4 games claim to be exclusive, but can be easily downloaded illegally, and usually are. The other exclusives are pretty foregettable. Remember Earth Defense Force 2017? What about Project Sylpheed? Vampire Rain? I don't. If anyone tells you PS3 has no games, just show them this section of my answer and direct them to the nearest failboat

PS3 will win the console war, no doubt. Xbox 360 and Wii are so weak from technological point of view, that in couple of years they won't be capable of dealing with serious graphics. GTA IV, for instance, Was not even announced for Wii - this toy won't be able to cope with the game's requirements.

Let's compare PS3 and XBOX 360:

1). A third of XBOX 360 (33%) are malfunctioning right from the start. PS3 return rate is only around 0.2%. Despite some people say, that new 360 has no breakdown issues - just visit Xbox section of Yahoo answers and see for yourself an amount of complaints.

2). PS3 has 7 kernels in Cell processor, Xbox 360 -only 3.

3). PS3 uses advanced tech called Blu-Ray, one disc can store up to 25 (single layer) and dual layer 54 gb (in the future - up to 200 gb), Xbox 360 - regular dual layer DVD-9 (8.5GB). It's possible to get HD-DVD (max. - 30GB) for 360, but it'll cost you around 50$. Besides, HD-DVD had lost the format war with Blu-ray. Toshiba had stopped to manufacture them, Microsoft too.

5). PS3 has full media support - USBs, built-in 4 slots card reader (except 20GB and 40GB versions), ability to use printer and so on.

7). PS3 - wi-fi included (except 20 gb version)

8). From the first technical sight - graphics are stronger in 360 (it has a stronger graphics chip - Xenos), BUT PS3 can use it's Cell CPU for graphics too, which gives you better graphics in total. PS3 uses a weaker RSX chip, that was developed by Nvidia exclusively for PS3. RSX runs on 550 Mhz. It's difficult to compare their graphics, because 360 has a video chip with totally different structure and operating memory is divided differently in both consoles. Xbox isn't that versatile in dividing tasks between CPU and GPU as PS3. That's why PS3 exclusives look better than 360's exclusives.

9). Xbox 360 is widely known for so-called "red ring of death" problem - it gets overheated easily. My PS3 was running for more than 15 hours non-stop with no problems. Sometimes Xbox 360 becomes so overheated, that thermopaste on CPU melts, drips on motherboard and successfully shortcircuits it. That's why in some countries people call Xbox 360 "Coffin 360".

11). PS3 online is free, Xbox 360 - you have to pay.

12). There were reports, that 360 scratches discs. No reports on that in PS3.

13). The funniest thing, that right now there are no games for PS3, that show full potential of the console. Biggest games weigh only 25 GB (Xbox 360 will need more than 3 discs even for those).

14). On PS3 you can install other OS, such as Linux Yellow Dog, Ubuntu and others. Sony officially lets you do it. There is no such thing in 360.

15). PS3 HDD can be replaced easily with any 2.5" SATA 5400 RPM HDD (used in laptops). 250 GB will cost you around 170$. In 360 you have to buy exclusive HDD, where 20GB will cost you 100$.

16).Sony expects PS3 to stay on the market for, at least, 7-10 years. Also Sony reduces price now. There is a cheaper 40GB version of PS3.

17).Sony constantly upgrades PS3 software (free updates for OS) - you get new functions and improvements.

18). PS3 controller (sixaxis) has a motion control - you move controller - game responds. Wii has it, Xbox 360 - doesn't. PS3 also has the rumble controller (Dualshock 3)

19).On PS3 you can help sick people by running Folding Home project. Wii and Xbox 360 didn't even think about it.

20).40GB is 399$ or 399 euro (depends on the region) - it has no backwards compatibility with PS2 games, has 2 USBs instead of 4, no built-in card reader, but it's the same PS3, strong, reliable, less noisy, different cooling system. The price is friendly.

these are all great games or will be great games. ps3 is also more reliable, it doesn't have a 33% failure rate like its 360 counterpart. it can play music, movies(including blu-ray), pictures, tv shows, surf the web, etc.

many people say that xbox online is better. to some degree it is. so it has the extra bells and whistles, but the ps3 will be getting cool features the xbox has in future updates. and xbox online costs $50 a year. now that money could be spent else were, lets say on one of the games mentioned above. psn is still a great online service. and because its free there is no reason why it ain't bad. some things it does better than xbl such as more downloadable content such as demos, add ons, etc.

ps3 is more neat and organized than the xbox. the home screen is more navigatable and its set up user friendly.

besides, the xbox will be costing you a lot more than the ps3 in the long run. ps3 is $400 while the xbox is $300-$350. but you need to buy all these seperate attachments and stuff to even get it equal to the ps3. xbox is a money hungry machine.

@Rex: The PS3 can do all that too (except Netflix). You should really know about the other console before saying something like that. Now you're just lying, and you probably don't even know it.

You can purchase movies and TV shows on the PS Store, and stream music and videos from your PC. On the PS3 you can actually do it wirelessly (if you have a wireless router). On the 360 you need an adapter for wireless internet.

The PS3 has more features for free, like a bluray player for high definition movies, and free online play. The 360 can only play DVD's and charges $50 a year for online multiplayer. You also need to buy AA batteries for the 360, or a "play and charge kit." The PS3 controllers are all wireless and have rechargeable lithium ion batteries. As I already stated, WiFi is also included in the PS3 for wireless internet connections. The 360 needs an adapter if you intend to use wireless.

Look at the exclusive games coming out and make a decision that way. The PS3 has LittleBigPlanet, Resistance 2, Killzone 2, Socom: Confrontation, and inFamous, for a few examples. The 360 has Gears 2, Fable 2, Viva Pinata, and Banjo Kazooie.

Now for what I have to say. I say buy a PS3. Not only because the PS3 is already matching if not surpassing the 360's graphics, even though they PS3 isn't being used to it's full potential. Also the fact that you don't have to pay to play online games. The PS3 can run homebrew. PS3 supports Linux. PS3 has a web browser. PS3 supports portable devices. Can upgrade HDDs. Has media ports. Plays Blu-ray movies. You can remotely access the PS3 from anywhere in the world and stream content stored on the HDD. Touch sensitive power and eject buttons. Motion sensing capabilities in games. Looks incredibly s**y. It's whisper quiet. Power supply integrated inside the console, no huge power brick.
