  1. My female was a ******. She snapped everyone with her tail and was just horrible to handle. But that could've just been her.

  2. i suggest neither as they are extremely hard to keep especially for a first time buyer. The small babies that are sold in petstores rapidly outgrow their cages and the owners are often stuck with an overly large and possible aggresive lizard especially if you have a mature male. Iguanas can grow to lengths of 6ft possibly more with good care and they also live long too! Are you up for handling a lizard that lives 20 years possibly more. And when the lizard gets mature and starts becoming aggressive,r u still going to keep it. And when it outgrows its baby tank are you going to be able to afford a cage thats twices his length in height and double his length in width. These are serious questions you must consider before going out and spending your money on something that will cost you much more in the future. Many iguanas end up in shelters becasue they become too big or too aggressive for their owners. It would be a different story if you had experience with there lizards but seeing as you are a first time buyer I highly reccomend you look into another lizard, somthing thats good and easily managaeble for you

    like....

    Blue Tongued Skinks

    Bearded Dragons

    Leopard Geckos

    Uromastyx

    Smaller Skinks

  3. i had two females and it was a nightmare, the were very snappy and during MY monthly cycle it sent them wild................................ any time i went near the viv they would lash out throwing them self at the glass,

don't think i would recommend the females  they are very unpredictable ,go for a male! they always seem calmer and more approachable

good luck hope this helps x

  4. Male

  5. Iguanas, like people, have different personalities.  Some males make great pets, others not so much.  I have been fortunate to have three wonderful females over the years.

It has been said that the egg laying cycle of females is tough to deal with, so maybe there is a slight argument for males.  Males are also said to be more adventurous and maybe having a bit more personality.

Personally though, I wouldn't trade my friendly female for the world.

  6. doesn't matter which one you pick but both can get to 6ft long
