Which is better to take my dad to: St. John or St. Thomas?

I want to take my dad to the US Virgin Islands because he is under a lot of stress right now. What are some fun but not too pricey activities (such as water activities) we can do together?

  1. St. John and St. Thomas are close enough that you can visit both. Frequent ferries to Cruz bay, St. John from Red Hook and Charlotte Amalie. Fewer people, slower pace, and better natural areas in SJ as opposed to ST.

Trunk Bay in SJ is beautiful. has a famous underwater snorkel trail. (small admission fee)

Magen's Bay in ST is also beautiful (small admission fee).

Coral World in ST has a lot of water activities, but many are not cheap.

    Enjoy!

  2. I would stay on St Thomas. I think there is more to do but I would also take the ferry over to St John and visit some of their beaches. Personally, I think the resorts on St Thomas are more reasonable too.

A nice resort to stay at is Secret Harbour Resort. Nice snorkeling beach, they also have a dive shop on property. Plus your very close to east end restaurants and the Red Hook ferry. (takes you to St John and the BVI)Here is a link

The nice part about the Virgin Islands you can also take a ferry to the British Virgin islands. A must do is Trunk Bay on St John and the Baths on Virgin Gorda.

Here is a couple of links "what to do" in St Thomas

Have a great trip and enjoy)

  3. My choice would be ST.Thomas because its more of a place to go and have fun.

Things to do in St.Thomas: Go to the beach or travel to cookie point they have jet ski you can ride. And the perfect hotel would be the Ritz Carlton because its located on a beach and have daily beach activities like going to St.Johns and scuba dive or enjoy para sailing, and also relax at the infinity pool. Also you can explore the island  you can go to Charlotte Amalie and walk down the road and window shop

or go to Carol World (Aquarium),Banana top is a good place to go to see the most of the island ,and also take a tour of Bluebeard's castle

Hope Dad can feel better and so do you

  4. Stay on St. Thomas.  I recommend Bolongo Bay Resort.  It is relatively small and affordable but still has a lot of charm.  If you want something from a "chain" hotel check out the Marriott Frenchman's reef.  Spend some time in Charlotte Amalie for lunch and shopping.  Spend time at the pool and beach.  And, be sure to take the short (20 min) ferry ride from St. Thomas to St. John and spend the day there at the beaches.
