  1. The rich already pay the vast majority of income tax.  Since they own most of the property, they also pay the most property tax.  Since they spend more money, they also pay more sales tax.

    Exactly what tax would you raise to get even more money out of the rich?

    Or do you actually believe the politicians' ads about how the rich supposedly skate through without paying their share?

  3. Either/or fallacy. Those aren't the only two possibiliities, and they are not mutually exclusive.

    The tax code does already tax the people with high compensation disproportionally high. (The tax taxes "income," and while some people how have high net worth, one might say "rich," don't get taxed as much, it is due to delaying recognition of that income. Business owners and investors can claim and life off of what they like. These people tend to be frugal, and no change in an income tax could possibly tax them; they don't withdraw money to spend, so only modest income. Those that live lavish lifestyles get it socked to them.


  4. I'd rather you defend *why* there is subsidized daycare to begin with.
