I have been a lacto-ovo-vegetarian (since about jan or feb of 2008). So i don't eat any type of meat (seafood and white meat included) but i do eat eggs and dairy.

Should i stay lacto-ovo- vegetarian

or

become a flexetarian (avoid meat about 80% of the time)

or

semivegetarian (where you eat less meat and avoid red meat)

which ones healthier. any other ideas. i like being vegetarian but my problem is... when i go out to eat (at some local resturaunts) i can only get side orders (like fries) and salad. plus im goign on a camping trip which will be hard to plan a diet around me on. and goign to friends houses. so yeah... please help.

  1. i would stay lacto-ovo-vegetarian, as long as you're getting enough protein. if that's hard for you, you might want to eat some meat. (vegetarianism helps cut global warming too! [= )

  2. if you dont mind someones rotting carcas on your plate, be my guest and eat him/her. and look into the restaurants you are currently going to, and ask for some special dishes made. let the cook show what he can do for once rather than heating up premade meals like always. it can be done

  3. Stay what you are. It is the healthiest way. Just make sure you get your protein some other way. And about resturaunts, just ask the waiter personally if they have any vegetarian options. They will usually have some form of entree option. (noodles, rice, salad, veggie wraps, etc.) For your camping trip, it shouldn't be too hard. I just went camping and I didn't even eat any meat. I had Instant ramen that I took out of the cup and put it in a pot over the fire. lol

  4. Stay where you are.

With it being that a sizeable amount of the veg population eats out, camps, visits friends houses and still SOMEHOW manage to eat, it can't be that hard.

More often than not, when I go out to eat I ask my server if s/he has any recommendations for veg. meals and they are generally more than happy to share their input and knowledge.

As for camping, make veggie sandwiches if you need something quick and easy. If not, get creative; explore the possibilities.

And I'm fairly certain that your friends don't eat meat exclusively; there's bound to be something you can eat. If not, make more veg friends!

  5. I would be a semivegitarian because you need your protein somewhere my cousin got sick cuz of not eating protein and she only went for 1 month imagine your whole life

  6. well you could always go with organic eggs and dairy. i have been vegetarian for 11 years and i still use eggs in things that call for them, such as cakes and brownies, and the kids love cheese and milk for things but it is ALWAYS organic. Atleast that way i know the cow i am getting the milk from is not standing in a small cage all day.. for your camping trip take some gardenburgers, morningstar hot dogs, my whole family is vegetarian and we have never had a problem finding something to eat,

  7. whatever you think is right for you. i personally only like a few certain types of meat, so i am flexetarian. if your friends serve you something it is probably polite to eat it, but you can refuse. when going camping you do not have to eat meat. you can bring granola and all sorts of vegetarian things. as for restaurants, just try to find ones with main dishes that do not have meat.
