Which is better xbox live or psn?

I am debating between a ps3 and a 360. One of things i am looking at are online play. So what i see is the psn is free. xbox live is 50 bucks a year. What does xbox live have that psn doesn't? I see both offer video rental downloads. Both offer great online play with no lag unless of course you have it. Is the 50 bucks really worth it? What do i get that is extra???

So far the only thing i see the xbox has over the ps3 is the amount of games... But i see many many good games are coming out on the ps3? so which one to get?

i dont want just one word answers like

"xbox live"

I want REASONS.

  1. Basically Live is more, how do I say it, smoothed over than PSN. It's not BETTER by any means, since PSN has literally everything Live has, including movie and TV show downloads, and home (eventually) for free. But Live is just more velvet coated, a little easier to use. Which is not worth the extra 50$.

  2. although ps3 is free, paying for xbox live is so worth it

the ps3 having online play is new to them so the online they have rite now is still kind of a prototype but xbox live has been here around for so long and microsoft has already gotten the hang of it while ps3 is still updating stuff. there is so much more to xbox live than ps3

    xbox live

  3. xbox live

    reasons

    1) most online user for a single console (other than PC of course)

    2) no lag

  4. Xbox live is better than PSN, since the systems and displays and the whole system is better, but at the cost of money.

  5. the PS3 online network is not run by sony.

The xbox live is a chargeable service as microsoft invest in making games live features better and faster.

  6. normally i would just say GET A PS3!!! but im not so sure about online play - i only know what is in video demos and blogs n stuff. id say there isnt much difference between online play besides the price. heres my advice :

    get a friend with a ps3

and a friend with an xbox 360 (and xbox live)

... see where im going with this? try them out and see if you want the decent games now but at a price for the live - or wait a bit for sony to bring them to ps3.

  7. XBOX LIVE is much more "united" than PSN. For example, on Resistance FOM, if I'm in an online game and I can't send my PSN friends directly into a game. On XBL I press the Guide button, send an invite, and no matter what game he is playing he just swaps disks and gets in the game.

On PSN, its up to each individual game to decide what they're going to do for online play, so it feels "bumpy" and badly put together.

On LIVE, you get the same consistent, smooth, expirience on every game.

On LIVE you can chat with your friends when youu're in the middle of the game. On PSN you have to quit the whole game.

On PSN the in-game XMB doesn't load very fast and it takes a while just to send a simple message.

    On XBL it loads instantly.

XBL feels like a community, and it is so much better than PSN, You cant even compare it. More players, more features, and less hoops to jump through.

PSN just doesnt feel well put together. They copied their PSP XMB and then added a few more icons. :P
