  1. The sun is much brighter than the moon. The moon reflects a small percentage of the sun's light. They would be equally bright if the moon didn't absorb any light, and if all of the sun's light was focused directly upon the moon.

The sun shines at a magnitude of -26.7.

The moon's magnitude depends on the phase. For the full moon it has the magnitude of about -12.6 and at crescent is has a magnitude of about -6.

  2. Ah...The answer to this question should already be evident to you...

You can easily look at the Moon for long periods of time with your

unaided eyes or with binoculars or a telescope. Looking at the Sun

for only a moment is dangerous and leaves a spot for long periods

on your retina. Usually it goes away in a few minutes. However,

if you looked at the Sun through binoculars or a telescope you

would amplify the Sun's energy and permanently damage your

eyesight. Blindness is a serious possibility, and nothing to be

    joked about.

So, beyond all doubts, the Sun is brighter.

Lastly, the Moon has no light of its own. All the light you see from

the Moon is actually reflected light from the Sun bouncing back to

Earth. Reflected light is always weaker than the original light source.

Also, since the surface of the Moon is quite irregular with mountains

and valleys, etc, the reflected light is also scattered quite a bit so

that its actual intensity is further reduced.

  3. The sun because the moon gets it's light from reflecting off the sun.

  4. considering that all of the moon's light is actually the sun's light reflected off of the lunar surface, the sun is much brighter than the moon.

  5. The Sun, duh! Isn't it obvious?

  6. The sun u moron! You can't even look at it 'cause it is so bright!

  7. The sun actually is the source of the moons light. it moon just reflects that light, giving it the appearance of glowing.

  8. Just think about it.

The sun is a lot farther away than the moon, but you can't look directly at the sun even for a second because its so bright.

But you can stare at the full moon for hours if you want to.

  9. The Sun is WAY brighter.

The Moon's light (which BTW, is reflected light off of the Sun), is not bright enough to make the sky blue, as our Sun does.

  10. The moon only reflects the suns light. The moon itself doesnt shine or whatever you call it.

  11. Try a test... look into the  sun and then the moon. you tell me....

IO cant bellieve you even asked this dont u have common sense man

  12. The sun?Thats why we have light on earth in the first place.

    So obviously its brighter.

  13. The moon doesn't actually light anything, at night, the sun rays are reflecting on the moon, so, obviously, it's the sun if the moon doesn'T make any light.

  14. Step outside in the daytime, and step outside at nighttime.  You will find your answer.  This is not rocket science here.

  15. The Sun is about a million times brighter.

  16. The moon emits no light of it's own.  It is only reflected light from the sun.  The sun is hotter.

  17. your not serouis r u lolz...

  18. The sun is brighter than the moon.  The only reason you see the moon at all is because light from the sun reflects off it on to the earth.  The moon emits zero light of its own.
