  1. depend on the thickness of the plywood..but i think particle board is cheaper..

  2. Particle board is cheaper, but I don't think either one would be good for picture frames.  I'd use harder finished wood.

  3. You can use various types of wood trim, chair railing etc.

  4. http://www.everythingsewing.net/fabric_b...

Is this what you are trying to make?

If so I would use Plywood and invest in a stapler.  You can wrap the batting and fabric around the plywood and staple it right to the back.  Particle board may be cheaper but it is harder to attach fabric to with staples.

As you can see from the website you can also use foam core and then you can cut with an exacto-knife instead of a saw.

  5. What kind of frames are you trying to make? Traditional frames would be made from a solid wood, not ply or particle. (The type with cut angled corners that is) More like the wood you see for moldings, door frames, that sort of thing. Not sure where the plywood/particle board would come in.

Price really depends on quality, there is cheap plywood and expensive plywood. Thickness, outside finish (rough or smooth) will also change the price.

Particle board also comes in different grades, but the cheaper it is, the more fragile. Really cheap particle board will fall apart when it gets damp or wet, and can swell up. If you were planning on cutting shapes then laminating the pictures on, then go with the plywood not the particle board.

If it is small pieces then sometimes you can get inexpensive cut offs from the stores too, so you may be able to use solid wood.

Why not go to the store one time to check it out!

  6. Particle board is cheaper but it is of poor quality and if it ever gets wet you may as well throw it away. Go with the plywood its better quality material

  7. Picture frames aren't made from either of these materials.  Call Home Depot or Lowe's.

  8. Generally plywood is more expensive than particle board.  However, if you are making picture frames, you don't want to use either.  Solid wood (1x4, 1x6) is much better.  You will not have the edge of the sheet showing.  Hope this helps.

  9. particle board is cheaper but it is not durable like plywood

  10. Plywood is better, particle board is cheaper
