  1. Asphalt is much cheaper than concrete pavement. The drawback to asphalt is that it doesn't last as long. However, in your application, it won't take the kind of punishment it would if it were road paving, so it's no contest.

    As far as the machinery goes, each requires its own paving machine, which are similar. Material is delivered to the site by truck, either a mixer (concrete) or dump truck (asphalt). Asphalt has to be rolled, while concrete doesn't, but it's still cheaper.

    Also, concrete has to cure (days), unless you use a special high-early-strength mix (even more expensive); asphalt is ready for traffic as soon as it cools off (hours).
