Its not that simple, the efficiency of an electric immersion heater is around 98%, the calorifier in the cylinder that's linked to your boiler is only 86% efficient.

So the only way to find this out is to heat the water in the cylinder to a given temperature using your boiler and conduct the same test using the immersion heater. During each test monitor the respective utility meter for consumption. Then you'll have your answer.
