Which is cheaper > On or Off

Which is the most ecnomical way to run a heat-pump, to leave it on during the night ? I am home most of the day, so which would be cheaper to have the temp down to 16-17 overnight or have it switched off and turn it on when i get up ?

Cheaper to turn it down at night.

I turn mine off at night, as it doesn't take long to heat the house in the morning since I installed good quality insulation. I would think that leaving it on 24/7 would be more expensive.
