  1. Id go completely around the controversy and say say "Brad is the guy every man dreams they could be."   Hope it brings a new light on things!!  ;D

  2. Neither. Proper phrasing: "Brad is the guy every man dreams he were", or "Brad is the guy every man dreams of being".

"Were" is correct in the first sentence because this sentence is in the subjunctive case.

  3. I like "Brad is the guy every man dreams of being," or "Brad is the guy every man wishes he were."  I seriously doubt that "dream" can take the subjunctive mood.  "Dream" is similar to "hope," in that both words signify that what follows is possible if unlikely.  "Wish" signifies that what follows is not real at the moment and takes the subjunctive.

If you are asking about "every man," normally you would use a singular verb.  If you use the subjunctive (special use of verb for special reason), "wishes (singular) he (singular) were (subjunctive) is correct.

"...every man dreams he could be"  is also a fine way to express the thought.

  4. The second, which uses the singular form of the verbs.

Brad, guy, man, he are all singular.

  5. it should be every man dreams he was because of the use of man rather than men.
