I am going to a ski resort with my boyfriend for his birthday this weekend. I have never been on a snowboard or a pair of skiis. I am worried that if I suck at whichever one that I pick I will ruin his weekend. So....which do you think is easier? PLEASE EXPLAIN WHY YOU THINK THIS! Thanks :)

  1. Ok, don’t worry about him especially if you taking him.

I have done both but like snowboarding better because i can control my legs better when they are 1. in snowboarding i found i fell less. You have less of a chance of twisting you legs over each other. But when new, tend to toepick and land on your tummy.

With skiing you have to worry about your ski and polls. That is four things. I hurt myself bad with ski's so I don’t like that.

Snowboarding is much easier. But if your not good a balance you won’t be good at either. You should have taken him snowmobiling.

  2. Well to tell you the truth if you've never done either before he should hopefully be understanding if you're not that great! He should just be stoked that his girl is doing this for him! Also be prepared for some spills and some soreness the days after. Anyways back to the original question which should you pick. The way that I always tell people is that when you run and slide in your stocking feet how do you slide.....to the side with one foot leading the other or toes first. See which you do if you slide toes first then try the skies! If you slide sideways try the board! If you slide sideways pay attention to which foot leads, left or right. If the left foot leads you want regular footed binding but if your right you want goofy footed bindings. I've snowboarded and skated for most of my life so the board was my way to go. But given these little hints try it out it works! But what ever you do keep the waxed side down. Even if you do "suck" have fun doing it! And for gods sake start out on the bunny hills. Hope these few little tidbits helped!

  3. Please don't take this the wrong way, but you WILL suck at whichever one you choose on the very first day, no matter what you choose.  That said, I think your BF will be very happy that you simply decided to join him.  My point is:  don't get hung-up on "doing well".  As long as you have fun and don't hurt yourself (or whine), he will be happy.

I suggest that you either 1) rent whatever he suggests, or 2) if he doesn't suggest anything, rent whatever he has (i.e. if he snowboards, rent a snowboard).  This way he can 1) give you tips, and 2) eventually when you start doing better (which may happen on the first day, but much more likely farther down the line), you will both head to the similar terrain.

For example, I ski and my goal is to carve deep and fast in all sorts of conditions.  My friends snowboard and they're pretty slow and avoid any sort of icy conditions like the plague, but like to hit the occasional jump or box/rail.  We end up getting separated out of necessity.  Had we been using the same general type of equipment, it would be more likely that we would all suffer from the same limitations, which would result in us being more grouped together.

  4. snowboarding is a lot of fun i tried skiing and i hated it! i think you will love snowboarding

  5. skiing is alot easier to learn but snowboarding is easier to master

i say thing because as a snowboard instuctor where i live in the bunny hill, anyone can strap on a pair of skis, make a pizza and rocket down the mountain but snowboarding you cant do that without bruising you *** or breaking your wrist, but once you eventually learn to turn on a snowboard, youve mastered it

  6. i think snowboarding is easier cuz u dont have to deal with two different things on each foot. also, its really hard to learn how to snowboard if you're already used to skiing, so if you plan to snowboard in the futer, i would choose that.

also, when i was skiing, i fell down MUCH more and when i tried to get up, i twisted my legs cuz the skiis are so long and they got a little tangled up.
