  1. Electric is a little easier because of the action of the guitar (easier to press the strings), but I always think it's better to start of on acoustic as it will force you to learn play a little bit better and precise.

A beginner acoustic player can easily play an electric, but a beginner electric player can find the physicalities of an acoustic a little harder to get to grips with.

Of course taste of music, location, time & money should all be considered... And if you live with a lot of people, learning on acoustic is easy on the ears, learning on electric can be just painful to listen to!

    Good luck with the learning

  2. electric

  3. Whichever one gets you the most enthuiastic about playing.

  4. it's easier to learn on an acoustic, as you can develop your ear and learn all the notes/cords better.

but once you have learned, it's much easier to play anything hard(well, play and make it sound good) on an electric, as your fingering doesn't have to be as perfect when you play the faster songs....

    in short:

start on an acoustic, and then move on to electric, (unless you really like the acoustic... ) but saying that i know people who have learned on electric.

  5. As for ease of learning, the are identical.  However, an electric is physically easier to play as it requires much less pressure be put on the strings with your left hand (if you're right handed).  It is therefore less painful at first.

With an acoustic, you really have to build up callouses on your fingertips before it becomes comfortable to play.

  6. begin on acoustic.  The most important thing is to take lessons.  they aren't that expensive, and a teacher will show you the proper technique so you will not learn any bad habits.

guitar really is easy, but remember that the first month is very painful for your left hand.  then your calluses will build up.

  7. Acoustic,.,

because with an electric guitar you still need to buy an expensive amplifier and acoustic has this natural sound. the real sound of a guitar

  8. It would be easier to start with electric since it's easier to push down the strings, but honestly it's better to start with acoustic.

When you move on to electric you'll be playing more precisely and you'll think it's really easy. You'll also get a better sense of chords if you start with acoustic. then again it's all up to whether or not you like the sound more. If you like the electric sound more and you're an impatient kind of person then you might want to just start off with electric.

  9. The electric guitar is easier to learn. When i began i started on electric that is what everyone told me and it is easier. =)

  10. They are equally easy so it all comes down to what your musical tastes are and which one will keep you more motivated to learn and keep practicing.  If your musical tastes run toward the kind of music played on an electric guitar then that's what you should learn on.  Don't make the mistake of starting on an acoustic (which is all I play, by the way) because some purist says it's better for you.

  11. to be completely honest, it comes simply down to which one you like more i say that because if you are learing the one you actually want to learn you should have an easier time because you are enjoying it you know.

i learned electric first, but to be honest, there isnt a ton of difference in the learning aspect, its the same notes and such but just a different sound.

i would tell you electric first because there is a whole lot you can do with different pedals and effects down the road and then when you can pick up an acoustic and you will be surprised at how well you play.
