  1. mechanical and manufacture take about 90% of the same classes they're about the same with it come to education. When it comes to a job the guys above did a good job answering the question.

What do you enjoy more? Working with machines and building them or making  parts/products..

  2. Mechanical Engineering is a conventional branch of Engineering. Production Engineering or Industrial Production is part of mechanical engineering. Initially Govt. did not give permission to numerous Private Engineering Colleges to offer conventional Courses in Engineering(Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical nad Civil Engineering). Hence they were offering courses like Industrial production/production Engineering, Power transmission etc.

You should go for Mechanical Engineering and choose elective papers from IP or Production Engineering for specialisation.

  3. I'm assuming that what you mean by production engineering is actually manufacture engineering. Manufacture engineering was before a branch of mechanical engineering that studies about how things are produced by mechanical processes such as machining, welding, molding etc. All mechanical engineering students get a basic knowledge about the process involved in "making things".  Although more emphasis will be on designing mechanical and energy systems.

While the now highly specific production engineering shall deal with an intensive study on how to make the systems designed by mechanical engineers to become a reality.

Which on is the easier? None is easier. Mechanical and Production engineering shall always be a tough subject. Regardless of what you pick you should have a sound knowledge in basic physics and math.

Which is better? Well its hard to say, since both complement each other. Mechanical engineers design mechanical systems. Production engineers makes those systems into reality.

    Hope that helps...

  4. nothing like easier out of the two...but mechanical definitely better than production in terms of job prospects
