  1. Rocket, because it has a more powerful engine.

  2. Dude that question is way to generic. There are SOME rockets that can reach mach 4 and SOME airplanes that can reach extremely high speeds as well.

  3. Rocket, but that question isnt specific enough. There is a reason why every aircraft that goes into orbit uses a rocket. Rockets are a quick and very expensive way to develop LOTS of thrust.

The reason being...if you wanted to make an airplane produce enough thrust using a jet engine you would basically melt the engine to the point it doesnt work anymore. Rockets are just a semi-controlled explosion of VERY volatile chemicals. Jet engines are a controlled burn of components that arent nearly as volatile.

Rockets will create a lot of thrust for a short amount of time only

  4. guess what... missiles /=rockets/ are used to shoot down planes.

rocket /the space one/ reaches the speed necessary to leave the /serious/ gravity influence of Earth, which none of planes is capable.

missiles not only reach higher speeds but also are in general capable of higher Gloads.

  5. A rocket
