I'm going to a Vietnamese restaurant but trying to watch my calorie intake and waistline. Which option is a better choice? Are there any better options? Is there anything I can do to make it healthier?

  1. If you're referring to vietnamese vermicelli - that's just the name of the noodle, but there is also a dish with vietnamese vermicelli and meat with a sweetish fish sauce.  Between that and pho - I would think in terms of caloric intake pho would be the better option.  But vietnamese vermicelli also has the added benefit of protein.  Personally, I like the pho - I guess its all the soup or something I tend to eat less of the high carb rice noodles.

  2. They are carbs. Take moderately.

Usually in Viet restaurants, their serving size is very reasonable. Enjoy!

  3. "Vericelli"? I'm assuming you mean vermicelli, and that's not a separate dish, it's just a different kind of noodle that can be used in Vietnamese soup. In terms of carbs and calories, rice noodle and vermicelli are roughly equal--just because one is made of rice and the other of wheat does not make one healthier than the other. What you should concentrate more on is the soup itself; chicken is healthier than beef, and vegetarian dishes are healthier than chicken. Avoid things that contain pork or beef flank; these tend to be very fatty. Your best option would probably be tofu pho, but chicken is good as well.

  4. It depends on what type of Pho (soup) you order. Some of them have a grease slick on top. The Bun (vermicelli) in my opinion is a healthier bet, but you can still get unhealthy one if you get the chopped eggrolls or fried pork.

  5. take pho ít's good i'm a vietnamese so i know it

  6. Pho is a clear broth based soup with rice noodles.  Vietnamese vermicelli is usually stir fried noodle bowls with various options for extra meats/seafood on top.  Pho will be healthier and lower in fat.

  7. the less fat the healthier. the japanese food is the healthiest food in the world. they use fresh food and sea food that is healthier than red meat, also they dont use a lot of fat in cooking

  8. Phở is loaded with fat and calories.  Once or twice a month should be OK.  The other choice is better.  Have a bowl of vermicelli chicken soup called miến gà.  That's a much better choice healthwise.
