  1. No Brainer.....PS3.....More Uses....Best Bang For The Buck!!!

  2. Wow thats easy ps3 because you can go on da internet games and it does play blu ray so the ps3 is way better 4 sho

  3. If you want practicality, go with the PS3.  As you said it has so much more plus the BR.

If you just want a BR player and are a video enthusiast who wants the best, get a stand alone player.  You dont have to mess with the goofy controls and all the PIA stuff.

It is really a personal preference.  Personally I don't play consoles and I think the BR players are too overpriced so for me I will just wait.

    Best of luck.

  4. Its depends on what you want? PS3 cant output 5.1 analog out while some blu ray players can do. So you will need a receiver with optical input or HDMI to enjoy surround sound if you use PS3. If you dont have that limitation, just go for PS3. Besides loading time of blu ray players are very annoying while PS3 dont have such problem.

  5. One of the only advantages in getting a blu-ray disk player is that most come with a digital coax output, where the ps3 only has a fiber optic out.  Not really enough of a difference for most people.

  6. PS3 is the way to go.

It works exceptionally well as a Blu-ray player due to the built in memory and cell processor (Get the remote for $20).

It also has a built in hard drive to allow you to store music, movies, pics, etc....

It is the first Profile 2.0 player (with the latest updates), which makes it more advanced then the standalone player you would buy.

The hard drive, internet connectivity, and frequent updates make it much more future proof than a standalone player, since if any new blu-ray features become available you will be able to download the updates online.

For the same price, it is definatelly worth the money even if you don't play any games. (And if you later want to, you can download free demo games to try them out, or if there is a game that you want a year or two from now, you will at least have the option of getting it.) If the PS3 was a lot more money than the standalone player, you might have something to consider, but since they are comparable in price - go with the PS3 and you wont regret it.

  7. the ps3 duals as a game console with many great functions that no other blu-ray player can offer.

    Duh!!!.....get the ps3

  8. I had both and my Blue Ray broke on me in the 1st month, and the Ps3 is still kicking. Plus you get to play awesome games its a 2 for one. Not to say its the cheapest blue ray you can find
