Alot of people are trying to confuse me but i want 2 15' speakers but they are saying even 2 12' speakers can be louder than 2 15' speakers but that doesnt make sense because what would be the purpose of the 15' speakers being bigger.(confused)

  1. The diameter sizes you mention do not make an impact on the loudness. what matters is the speaker's RMS output power. by the one that is rated higher in RMS power (NOT PMPO). there are quite good brands that are smaller in size and still produce louder sounds because they have stronger magnet and proper coil wiring and design.

In general, the heavier in weight speaker should better.

  2. lil krandle is full of c**p!

Not only does the RMS wattage make a difference, but the sensitivity is a big factor as well.

    Example...

A 12" 600 watt RMS 94dB sub will beat the pants off of a 15" 900 watt RMS 87dB sub.

    It's all in the numbers.

  3. It all depends on the wattage. 15's are meant more for bass, because the bigger the speaker, the more the bass. Get 2 15's because they will sound much better than 2 12" subwoofers. If you get 3 12" subwoofers that fit in the car with ports, then definatly go with that because it will have harder bass. But remember, a 15" sub that has 600w RMS beats better and harder than a 12" sub that has 600w. But if the 12"s are higher in wattage, they will hit harder.

  4. It all depends how much power the subs are capable of producing, and how much you're pumping into them. Many 12"s put out more power than a 15". So looks at the RMS ratings on the amp and sub to see which one is more powerful.
