Neither! it's best to get 2 or more reports .

Carfax.  They have over 20,000 data sources.  Autocheck (Experian - the same folks who do the credit reports) has only a couple hundred sources.

Autocheck is better and they report more, remember that carfax got sued and autocheck has never been accused of any wrong doing.

To be honest both are c**p. There are many ways around them. The best thing is to take the car/ truck whatever to a mechanic or body shop you trust and have them look it over real good before you buy. If you are unable too do that seriously reconsider buying it. I wrecked a Avalanche and caused  $17,000 in damages. I got it fixed at a commercial body shop. There never was a report. I had problems long after the repairs but no public paper trail to prove it. I wasn't trying to hide it and it never existed. There are too many crooked people out there. Get it checked out in person.
