  1. Neither! it's best to get 2 or more reports .


  2. Carfax.  They have over 20,000 data sources.  Autocheck (Experian - the same folks who do the credit reports) has only a couple hundred sources.

  3. Autocheck is better and they report more, remember that carfax got sued and autocheck has never been accused of any wrong doing.

  4. To be honest both are c**p. There are many ways around them. The best thing is to take the car/ truck whatever to a mechanic or body shop you trust and have them look it over real good before you buy. If you are unable too do that seriously reconsider buying it. I wrecked a Avalanche and caused  $17,000 in damages. I got it fixed at a commercial body shop. There never was a report. I had problems long after the repairs but no public paper trail to prove it. I wasn't trying to hide it and it never existed. There are too many crooked people out there. Get it checked out in person.
