Where I live the standard measurement of how fast your going or are allowed to go is in Kilometers.

If I wanted to know my speed at all times with my speedometer while I'm bicycle riding...does it make a difference if its in miles or kilometers?

Because today I was so excited that I was biking up a MASSIVE hill at 15 km/hour..but then my bf said "you were actually going about 8 miles/hour"...and it confused me...

which WAY is more beneficial!??!?!

I'm confused...please explain :)

  1. Doesn't matter..  Use whichever you are accustomed to for measuring speed or distance.  1 mile and 1.6 kilometers are the same thing, after all.

  2. It doesn't matter which it is whether its in KMs or Miles.

Kilometers is in metric system (most countries use this method, except US) and Miles is an imperial system.  Metric system is easier to calculate...by 10s, 100s, 1000s, and so on (100cm is 1m for example)

  3. It's your call if you're used to kilometers then that is fine if you're from the states then miles will make more sense.  Since 1.6 kilometers makes up one mile,  I learned a nice little trick for converting if you like math (or if you want to tell your BF he sucks at converting) try this: to go from kilometers to miles first divide by two and then add a tenth of the original number Like so: 15 km ->half of this is 7.5 then add a tenth of the original which is 1.5 to get 9 (not 8 duh)
