  1. Cigarettes have far more dangerous physical effects than drinking alcohol. Everything in moderation my friend....everything except smoking tobacco and pot.

  2. Alcohol damage is immediate. It is a toxin to your body and your liver tries to get rid of it as soon as it can. If you drink a small amount say on 12 oz beer or 2-3 oz of liquor, your body will get rid of it pretty quickly. The more you drink, the harder it is for your body to cleanse itself. If you become tipsy or drunk, then you have drank more alcohol then your body is able to process. Alcohol intake,no matter how small makes subtle changes to your body and many people then become dependent on it, which means they are not able to give it up. Alcohol causes brain damage, liver and kidney damage primarily.

Smoking is more sinister. The smoke from cigarettes fills the air sacks in your lungs. The air sacks in your lungs lie against your capillaries (blood stream ) and your body's organs depend on them to be clean so that the blood will pick up as much oxygen from your lungs as it can to nourish your body. Consequently, smoking causes organ damage, including heart  damage and other circulatory problems. Smoking is also addictive. As far as transplantation, liver transplants have been given to alcoholics and lung transplants (and lung surgeries) have been given to smokers, but it is becoming increasingly unlikely for smokers and drinkers to have these transplants because there is a shortage of organs and if you didn't take care of the lungs and liver you have why should you get another set? Transplants are very expensive (in the 100's of thousands of dollars just for the operation and after care) and you must take antirejection medications the rest of your life and they can run into the thousands of dollars per MONTH! When I have a young patient (in their twenties), I can usually hear the damage in their lungs, if they smoke.  But both have long term consequences.

  3. Alcohol is only bad for you in fairly large quantities. Studies have shown moderate amounts (ie: a glass of red wine a day) can actually benefit you.

Cigs on the other hand are severely addictive and contain several dozen known poisons (the link contains a few, not all). Not to mention cigs have been ddefinitivelylinked with increased llikely hood of developing cancer.

  4. Cigaretts are more addicting so in the long run they would be worse. Most people can drink alcohol without it being a major problem however most smokers end up with serious conditions.

Another argument is your liver can be replaced (somewhat) if it is damaged by alcohol but ive never heard of a smoker getting a lung transplant.

So yea I would say they are both bad but smoking is worse...and ev eryone drinks but not everyone smokes.

  5. In all honesty, it's how abusive you use the substance. There are a lot of side effects for cigarettes, lung cancer, 2nd hand smoke, yellow nails, gum disease (teeth rotting as well). As for alcohol, it deteriorates your lungs over time, and messes around with your brain and blood quite effectively too. Considering cigarettes is a daily thing, and alcohol is occassionally, cigarettes are a lot worse.

(But remember, its how frequently you abuse your body with the substance)

    Hope I helped.

  6. to much Alcohol kills your liver which can be fatal ,and too many cigarettes give you lung cancer

i feel cigarettes are worst because they are unforgiving I'm every sense but depending on what you drinking can either be bad or good...

red wine drunk on occasion helps the heart but on the other hand being an alcoholic can really damage your insides...too much of anything is all ways bad..remember that!

  7. Cigs.

  8. If we are considering social as well as bodily health, alcohol abuse can completely ruin your career, your social ties, as well as your family life. However, if we are considering only medical health, then I would say cigarettes are more dangerous and damaging.

We all know alcohol abuse can lead to increased risk for several deadly diseases (i.e. heart disease). However, its primary detrimental action is on the liver. The liver is one of the body's 'miraculous' organs that can repair itself and even recover completely after an exposure to poisons such as alcohol or drugs. In fact, it is pretty hard to hurt your liver. The only time the liver really 'gives up' is when it is constantly filtering poisons from the body for extreme long periods (years) and not given any time to recover and repair the damage done (i.e. alcoholics who are constantly have alcohol in their bloodstream). I have been told (by my sister who is a pharmacist) that even if you binge drink a once a week, you are unlikely to do lasting damage to your liver.

Regularly smoking cigarettes however, almost* guarantees that you will develop lung cancer or other fatal respiratory disease later in life. In addition smoking increases the risk factor for most of the other diseases that drinking is associated with.

  9. Im gonna disagree with everyone of these other people cuz they are dumb.  I say alcoholics are way more dangerous than a smoker heres why.  Alcoholism destroys families and relationships and indirectly causes weaker men to commit crimes like rape and molestation of younger children.  Also why do they take your license away for a dui but not for smoking while driving?  BECAUSE YOU DONT HURT ANYONE BUT YOURSELF WHEN YOU SMOKE!  That is what they call freedom to kill yourself slowly if you want to.  have you been to a bar and noticed when a patron gets over his limit he is still allowed to leave with no questions asked?  Ill tell all the people out there right now if you think your "ok" after leaving a bar and while driving home you kill someone from my family you better go into hiding because I guarantee you I will blow your head off with my rifle.  sad but true.

  10. both bad but id say cigarettes is way worse

  11. Both but cigarettes turn your lungs black a whole lot quicker then Alcohol eats your liver years & years of drinking will cause sirosis of the liver.

  12. I am a CCMA

They are equally bad here is why... Ciggs cause lung disease and cancer, while booze causes diseased organs and cancer... They both cause birth defects
