Bus fare is generally cheaper but the bus takes a lot longer.

You might get a bargain airfare - you never know.

Depending on where you are coming from a bus could take days while a plane would take a few hours.

I took a look at the Greyhound site and a trip from Atlanta to NYC would take as long as 21 1/2 hours and cost either $131.00 (Non-refundable fare ) or $148.00 (refundable fare).

I took a look at the Continental Airlines site and the cost of a one way ticket ranges from $383 up to almost $600 depending on the flight.  A direct flight can take up to 3 hours by air.  Non-direct (where you have to change planes) can take up to 6 hours.
