  1. once you start dealing in these smaller engines, there not a whole lot of diffrent between make of engine and fuel consumption.... you'd probably have to use .1 or even .01 mpg to measure the diffrence in consumption between any two, realtively similar configured bikes operating under the same conditions (i.e. riding in the same place at the same speeds/same rider/same tires/etc)

  2. they're prob. almost exactly the same....

    both 125cc...brand doesn't really matter

  3. If they are 2-stroke engines then they waste at least 19 percent unburned fuel out the exhaust. If it were up to the EPA there would be no 2-stroke engines to buy. I am a die hard 2-stroke fan. It is not the oil being burned that is a concern. A 2-stroke engine is inherently a dirty engine. Sad but true.

  4. I agree with slipknot. Why is such a small amount important? We all want to save $$, but not like this. :-)

To answer your question the difference may be so small that it may depend on the bike and not the brand. This would make it impossible to tell. Most manufacturers won't give a hard number and they can't because riding styles and conditions vary so much.

There can be a weight difference that would ultimately give one the better mpg. And  maybe the weight is there to make the bearings and the chain last longer, the fork stronger, the seat more comfortable, or the exhaust pipe last longer. One may have a tire that grips better, but has more rolling resistance. Gearing may make a difference too in mpg. Maybe a taller-geared bike will do better in mpg, but you may have to abuse the clutch more to get started rolling. Or maybe one engine puts out a little more power, which you end up liking and using, so it costs you some mpg.

And for all of this I mean between similar type of bikes, like maybe 125 dual sports.
