  1. I enjoy both, but i find it so exciting when an opponent has been losing for the past 15 minutes, and in the last 20 seconds catches the attacker in a nice, clean submission.

I also like watching flying knees end a fight in 3 seconds, or a nice swift shin kick to the head rattle the sh*t out of an attacker.

But my favorite is watching a standing waki gatame arm bar snap a man's arm in two at the elbow, or slipping into a t-clinch and RNC an attacker in seconds.

Both good stuff that shows the ferociousness of the two arts. Muay Thai if your body is built for blunt force trauma.

JJ if your body is more toned for agility, speed and leverage.

  2. well if its fun you want, I would personally say Jiu Jitsu. You donty get hit so it takes that fear out of the equation. Mauy Thai is full contact hitting and some can find it intimidating.

  3. if you like rolling  around on the floor twisting  people into fancy  pretzel shapes then ju jitsu is for you. If however you like kicking  elbowing and kneeing potential attackers in the throat groin or face then muay thai is for you.

Ju jitsu  works well for people of smaller stature. muay thai does too. Ju jitsu  is based on japanese sword forms, muay thai is not.

I would find a place that teaches both. I  learn both here in australia. I like them both  for different reasons. Jujitsu i learned as my first martial art. I love the throws locks takedowns and the weaponry used. Muay thai i love for the naked momentum based force used. it is meaner  and much less compassionate in the dispatching of an attacker.

    good luck...

  4. muai thai is more standing up throwing and tacking punches and kicks. Jiu-jitsu is more wresling and submissions. Your choice.

  5. i've always wanted to do some muay thai.  man the s**t is brutal.  muay thai is a fighting style that mainly focuses on knees and elbows.  i also like jiu jitsu but it's more of a grappling style, i mostly like stand up.

  6. Personally, I find JJ to be more fun. It's very technical and rolling with someone is a lot like a game. You're always searching for openings, deciding which submissions will be best, setting up traps, etc etc. There's a lot of quick thinking and strategy involved. It's also a great endurance workout.

There's a lot of strategy and technical stuff in MT too, but it has a higher workout value in my opinion. It really hardens your body and helps you develop explosive, strong striking.

So if you're looking for "fun", I would go with JJ. If you want a killer workout, I'd go with MT. They're both fun and they're both great workouts though.

  7. Look for a school that does both... it's called MMA...
