I can go 60 seconds without consuming air, 24 hours without consuming water, 72 hours without consuming food, and 10 - 15 minutes without thinking about s*x. I'd say it was a tie, especially if "reproduction" includes impure thoughts about reproducing, especially with the Danish Women's Gymnastic team.

If you mean really reproducing - courting, marrying, gestation and that magic moment when you cut the cord while your wife pants and asks for more Demerol, it takes 10 - 27 months, so consumption is more important.

Are you sure you are asking the right question?  Are you using the word 'reproduction'  rightly?  Or did you have , in mind, the word 'production'?  Am  I right if I say that you want to know which is more important ,Producing something or consuming something?   Otherwise your question does not make sense at all to me.

Assuming my understanding to be correct I would say that anything can be consumed only if it is produced. The more the consumption the more will be the production which is generally referred to as  Demand  and Supply.

Demand supply should be evenly based  and controlled  on case to case  bais . Both are equally important  for a healthy  development.
