  1. That depends on your opponent. You have to punch a speedy opponent hard and you have to speed-out the hard puncher. (Opposites attrackt). But most of the time the fast punch is also a hard punch ( energy = mass x acceleration). If I had to choose, I would take speed, because you can win by points but not by the most missed punches.

  2. speed

  3. Speed kills.  You would be surprised how easy and light a punch it takes to break a jaw or KO an opponent.   Yeah, it helps to hit like a truck, and a mule kick to the head can KO an opponent, but a clean shot to the point of the chin doesn't have to have all your weight behind it to be effective.  Power helps, but I believe speed is at least as important, if not more so.

I would opt for speed over power.

  4. hard becuase land one of them it will be over

  5. Speed. Because if you are there before him the hardness doesn't count.

  6. I would rather speed. speed is the killer. if you have speed and great stamina it can tire your opponent out quite easily and he will waste all his energy trying to defend himself and then you can use your power.so speed and power are both very important but yes most people would rather speed.

  7. I would go for speed.

    Why?

Because there is no point in having strength if you cant even hit a person....

I mean yeah, you have an advantage... one hit and its over.... (probably... but they would definitely be messed up)... but with speed... you seriously drain the stamina of your opponent (if you know how to, that is) and by the time they are seriously worn out you can hit a nice, clean punch and then-luckily-KO!!

Of course, that might now always happen. But yeah... I would choose speed (and dash speed) and nice footwork over immense power anyday!

I wouldnt want to have NO power, of course.... but yeah... =]

And in the end, Speed-dominating boxers usually win by points, dont they? (if they have a tight guard and dont fall down... and evade quickly and all that...)

    ah~!! I just confused myself!!

    Ok! Speed! Thats it! lol!

  8. in modern boxing, I would have to say speed. for proof, look at mayweather vs de lahoya. De LaHoya has the power advantage on Mayweather, he's throwing harder punches that are doing more damage, but Mayweather is dancing in, landing some quick shots and then backing away from De LaHoya's counters. De LaHoya lands the more damaging punches, but because Mayweather lands three times as many tiny little shots, he picks up the decision.

In my opinion though, while you've got to have power and speed, power is the more telling of the two. Fast punches let you win a fight on points by landing more often, powerful punches let you take a fight you were losing on points and turn it into a come from behind victory via highlight reel quality knockout.

Maybe i'll lose the decision every time a fight makes it there, but i'd rather throw power shots and go for the knockout win every time.
