Just for fun, but basically, is breeding an ape to gigantic proportions more or less likely than building a spaceship that can reach the speed of light and developing a hard-light lightsabre and telekinetic powers (the Force) etc. I have a bet with a friend. Cheers for your two penneth :-)

  1. well both may be possible

  2. Star Wars. But, this would never happen in our lifetimes. It just seems more possible with the futuristic technology and transportation. The telekinetic powers are another question!

King Kong is a great movie. But, seriously a giant primate from an island of dinosaurs would never happen!

  3. Neither.  Both are fantasy.

An erect mammal that big would exceed the tensile strength of bones so the first time it tried to walk upright, it's legs would crush under the strain.  Other physiological problems would also be caused by the size, such as the pressure differential in the circulatory system would cause blood to cavitate as it returned to the heart.

Star Wars is really Medieval "Sword and Sorcery" fantasy recast with spaceships, aliens, and robots.  Given our current understanding of the physical laws of the universe, essentially nothing in Star Wars is remotely plausible.  That doesn't mean they aren't good fun, but they are about as realistic as the Lord of the Rings.

  4. well, we've searched the world and haven't found any 'more' king kongs (although, undersea creatures may be a different story...) and Jurasic park was a movie.. I don't think cloning of big dangerous animals will be allowed to happen any time soon...

Starwars is a reality and getting closer every day...

  5. I'm gonna go with King Kong being more plausible, though I wish it was Star Wars!
