  1. Should ask in chemistry. Ethanol is more soluble because it has a hydroxyl group that can hydrogen bond with water. Benzene is essentially insoluble in water. The general rule is if a compound has more than 4 carbon atoms it is insoluble.


  2. it is ofcourse ethanol since it cn form h bonds and therefore its solvation is thermodynamically favoured
