Which is much better? a saturated cooking oil or the unsaturated cooking oil? and why?

  1. Sat oils tend to be animal

    Unsat oils tend to be plant

    It is widely believed that sat oils lead to cholesterol and heart disease.

    Thus, Unsat oils are better for your health.  In general, you should try to hold your oil consumption to a minimum.  Though you do need some in your diet.

Saturated fats  (having only C-C bonds)  are more likely to solidify at room temperature and better able to survive high temperatures without degradation, though they are flavourless.  Generally the only chemical reaction in which they participate is with air at several hundred degrees C!  Unsaturated fats  (having one or more C=C double bond)  are more likely to be liquid at room temperature and have distinctive flavours, but are likely to be damaged by overheating.  Which is better depends on your application.
