Which is older: Kilauea or Mt. Rainier?

  1. Kilauea is estimated at 200,000 to 150,000 years old.

    Elsewhere.....

    Estimated age of 600,000 years, though 90% of its surface is less than 1,100 years old.

    Yet, elsewhere....

    Most of "the big island" that Kilauea is on, the age of the island is measured in the milllions of years. With KIilauea being the most constant island, one might guess that it has been around for a mere one or half million years


  2. mt. rainier formed around 12million bc ,  kilauea was actually a pretty new for around 20 -0 bc you can tell it by finding the densest  rock  deposits on the summit

  3. Not knowing exactly, but Mt. Rainier is probably much older. Geologically, Hawaii is an infant.
