  1. If you mean Montreal or Quebec City, it would not be Montreal.

That's not to say Montreal is not safe...it's just like any other big city.  There are places you don't go or tread carefully when you do but if you mind  your own business, you shouldn't have any hassles wherever you go. :)

  2. they are both quite safe cities in canada, but because its smaller and there is less "gangs" quebec is technically safer.

however, I'm no cop so how would I know?

  3. Both Montreal and Quebec City are great, safe places to live. Quebec is smaller, with fewer activities but is steeped in culture and gives you faster access to some extraordinarily beautiful parts of the Province. All the towns and villages of Quebec are mostly French-speaking. One other city which is relatively small but only 90 minutes from Montreal and 2 hours from Quebec is Sherbrooke. Nestled in the Eastern Townships, close to the Vermont border, Sherbrooke offers an urban area surrounded by hills, lakes and forests and farmland. I've lived in both Montreal and Quebec City, but now live in a small village 15 minutes from Sherbrooke center, and I wouldn't move away for anything.

  4. Montreal is a city in Quebec.

    Quebec is a province.

Montreal is bilingual so you don't have to deal with French constantly which I like, my dad delivers transport all the time and he went to Montreal and said he was pretty scared and that he'd rather walk down a street in Toronto then walk down that one.

There's a lot of gangs in Montreal, guns, drugs, its not all that safe, really it depends on the neighborhood you get in, you can tell just by the house/apartment and the neighborhood.

If you get into the smaller towns your looking at French people who speak very little if at all English.

I think Montreal is ok though, I've never been there myself, I've never been outside of Ontario actually but all the stuff I hear about it is fairly decent, there are bad neighborhoods but hey that's everywhere you can't avoid it, you just have to look at the neighborhood your moving into, you can basically tell if the houses look good then no druggies are there because they can't afford top dollar stuff.

Quebec is a pretty good province though I'd say it comes close to second best in Canada, I wouldn't hesitate moving there, good luck!
