the narcotic in vicodin is the stronger of the two, but each also contains acetaminophen (the active ingriedient in Tylenol). Long term (over 10 days of continuous use, say 6 tabs/day) may result in liver damage. Alcohol use increases the possiblity liver damage.

There are alot of peple who died of liver failure due to acetaminophen or the acetaminophen/alcohol mix.

Vicodin is stronger.  Darvocet is a c**p drug.  We rarely use it in my hospital.  BTW, DArvocet-n-100 also contains tylenol.  So, the real comparison is the hydrocodone component of Vicodin vs the proproxyphene component of Darvocet-n-100.  Hydrocodone wins hands down.
