  1. Both are good and While Plasma offer a better picutre quality over all the 1 remaining issue with PLasma is that you still suffer "crreen Burn In" with them, not as bad as in the past, but overtime when you turn the set off, you will see images burned into the screen LCD will never do this

When PLasma first came out Burn In was a big reason why people bought LCD overtime the Burn In issue has been addressed and worked on but it still exsitis

For that reason I would get an LCD you will laso probly find that Palsma TV's still are a bit more costly then LCD's are are

I plan on buying a Flat Screen for Xmas 2008, for the reason of price and burn in I will get an LCD not a Plasma

    Hope this helps

also see on the set how many ports it has for Svideo alot only comewith 1 HDMI connections make sure you get a set that has at least 2-3 so if you add ther item you can pluf them in if you only have 1 HMDI connection and get say a blu rey player and aonther Svideo comonent, you won't beable to run both at thesame time as the TV wil only have ports for 1 Svideo connection

  2. Plasma is always going to be better, they have faster response, better picture glow, the pixels are blended smoothly etc.

But, considering the advances in LCD technology, the price for a plasma probably isn't worth it, unless you have the green to throw around. I would just get an LCD, just do some research on good models, don't listen to the sales rep.

  3. well anything up to a 32 inch get  lcd   great picture .....after that its plasma all the way ......dont belive plasma burn stuff ,,,,,thats old news ,,,,modern plasmas 32 inch and over  are great .......samsung and lg are the models you want to look at and good value for money ............good luck   and i think currys are doing deals so happy shopping

  4. Fact is, 63% of the population prefer plasma TVs.  Because they are better...

  5. It's not about what is superior its about your needs and your viewing habits. To briefly sum it up. LCDs if you want any size around 37" or less. If you have HD and want a bigger screen then Plasmas win hands down for contrast ratio and colour representation. Also, go into any proper home entertainment store (not the big electronic retails stores) and ask them what there professional opinion is on these 2 types of tvs and 9 out of 10 say Plasmas are far better. Obviously, though as I say if you want a 32" screen then you have no choice really and therefore you should go for an LCD.

loads of info and if you want advice for you personally you can contact them and they will point you to the best tv for your needs and not for the hard sell on their current promotions, like sales reps can do in stores.

    Hope that helps!

  6. It seems if, like me, you have excellent eyesight and colour-vision, and picture-quality is really important to you, that plasma is the way to go, particularly for larger screens.  The drawbacks are a shorter life (thou still a really long life) and a higher power-consumption, and generally a thicker TV than the really slimline LCD ones these days.  Plasma can also suffer 'screen-burn' from a logo such as the SkyNews one in the corner of the screen, after some years watching the channel.

Colours, and contrast in darker regions of the screen (think sci-fi films/dramas with lots of detail in space) are apparently MUCH BETTER from a plasma than LCD can possibly get, and a survey asking undecided potential buyers shows they DO prefer plasma screens to LCD when not told what they are watching!  Plasma screens should never be laid flat, it can mess them up permanently, I am told.

LCD screens with slow processors tend to have dreamy-slow-motion movements of peoples' mouths, which soon fall out of lip-sync, when there is much happening on the screen adn the processor cannot cope!  I find they almost make me sea-sick...- having said that, LCD are getting pretty good these days.

Take your eyes with you and be very fussy when buying!

  7. LCD is better really. Plasma burns after a while. Like if you see the sky sports sign on a plasma tv, if the sign is constantly there it'll burn the screen. So with a plasma tv the screen must always be active.

LCD will not burn, but I think the quality isn't the same as a plasma tv.
