At the moment I am on AOL Silver and I have limit on the broadband I use monthly and I pay £14.99 monthly. I was just wondering if there are any better services out there. At the moment I heard about BT, Virgin, AOL, Sky, Tiscali, Talk-Talk and Orange. Could you please let me know how they compare and which one is better in price and service. I there is on other called BE, has anyone heard of it and how good is it?

Thank you

  1. I have tiscali. i pay 13.99 a month and get 7.7mb speed max. also i have unlimited downloads

  2. You can't beat Virgin Media cable for price.

BT are more expensive. Virgin starts at around £10/month (initially, rising to £15/month - but you can get just the broadband without phone)

BT needs a phone line, line rental of at least £11/month plus internet subscription of £16/month, so it is dearer.

I have had both, and based upon quality of service, I have gone back to BT.

  3. This consumer website published a comparison table last night.

You should find your answer here

  4. Hi, i am on talk talk and pay £20 a month for unlimited broadband and phone. Its a good service and i have no problems at all. I have my pc plugged in to the modem and laptop on wireless and always have a really high signal. My mum is also on talk talk and highly rates it. I used to be on BT but the service was bad and the prices were high. My sister is on Sky and her internet is always going down. Hope this helps

  5. I have had terrible trouble with tiscali,

    choose any ISP than them

  6. I'm with BT at the minute and so are some of my friends, we are all changing. The reason being, they throttle bandwidth which is of no use to anyone who uses their computer to it's full capacity. I've been with TalkTalk in the past, what a nightmare! Read about them all over the internet and you'll stay away.

I'm still undecided where to go from here but at the moment I'm drawn towards BE https://www.bethere.co.uk/

Take your time and research for a while before you make the decision and ask if they throttle bandwidth at certain times of the day, peak times doesn't give you much so ask what their 'peak times' are. If you use P2P as most of us do these days, ask if they throttle that and if so by how much. If you go for an unlimited package, ask what their limit is. [sounds daft I know but trust me, there is a limit] BT has told me that their 'limit' is 100GB per month which is lies as they restrict your bandwidth way before you reach that. I'd say it's nearer 25GB.

Good luck with deciding, I think you'll need it.
