  1. CHICAGO ALL THE WAY BABAY!!

its a world class city with a home-town kind of feel. for someon like yourself from western europe you'll appreciate the fact that when needed you can get almost any comfort from home, or you can skip the home sick stuff and throw yourself straight into the american culture!!

um 100%biased but i've been known to spend time with the boys off the boat, mostly from western-er europe. and they love it here. you'll want to come soon tho cos if u come in dead of winter u'll probably hate it. fact.

    best of luckk!

  2. london, Texas might be an easy transition as such

  3. There are many wonderful cities in the US and each has its strong points.  It really depends on what you're looking for.  Chicago, Portland Oregon, New York, San Francisco are all nice, in different ways.

First thing you should do, however, is check on whether you could actually move to the US.  From what people have answered on these boards, it is not easy for a British citizen to get a work permit to live in the US.

  4. Check out Denver, Colorado!  If you like the outdoors, you will love it!  Nice city with good bars, shopping, sporting teams, entertainment, affordable living compared to other major cities, etc.  Plenty of hiking, biking, skiing, snowboarding, etc. Colorado is beautiful

  5. Well, there are really multitudes of great cities out here. I feel bad suggesting only four.

It all really depends on what kind of social, physical, and financial environment you want, would prefer, or could live in.

Chicago is favored by many people. It's not as intense of a city, I've heard, and I've also heard that it's beautiful and friendlier.

San Francisco has beautiful weather, if you're into sunny and warm. It doesn't get as hot as LA, and it's much more welcoming.

Charlotte, North Carolina is also another good city. It gets hot, but the people are very friendly and it's nice to be there during the wintertime.

And then there's New York City, which is my absolute favorite. The hustle and bustle of busy people, the lights, the noise...the epitome of my idea of a true American city. It's also the center of commerce for the US. It's SO expensive, though. It really is. I think a small apartment in Times Square runs about 4,500 dollars a month. (2,411 GBP, am I right? - Just used a converter.)

I don't know how much they agree with me, but I hope I helped, either way.

  6. Depends on what type of atmosphere you like.  NY City is great but expensive.  Miami is great too.  I live in DC and I like it.
