  2. According to most firewall group tests by experts that I've seen, Kaspersky Internet Security is the best by far. It always comes out on top. It's a very concise and rock solid solution with an exceptional firewall. Aparently once a hacker tries to connect to Kaspersky, they simply can't maintain a connection for more than a second. It costs around £30 a year ($55 approx).

For free solutions I recommand Avast Antivirus and Zone Alarm free. I've tried AVG Antivirus and Comodo but I fell out with both of them.

  3. SINCE I GOT CALIFORNIA SECURITY SUITE , I HAVEN'T HAD ONE PROBLEM WITH MY COMPUTER AND I HAVE HAD THIS PROGRAM FOR A YEAR NOW

  4. you don't even need to buy one, Just go to www.Avast.com and Download the Free home edition, Its reliable and free.

  5. I suggest you to use NORTON INTERNET SECURITY 2008.

It has all the features you want for protecting your PC from VIRUS & SPYWARE and other malicious program..

  6. To put it simply, yes. Every time you go online unprotected cookies and tracking devices are installed on your computer. Spyware devices can be used to track your Internet behavior or can be employed for more threatening activities like recording your keystrokes to obtain passwords or pulling information from your personal files. So what can you do to avoid spyware?

Install a powerful anti-spyware program that works well with your XP or Vista security.

Avoid downloading free software without investigating the site's privacy policy first.

Don't open emails from unknown sources.

  7. The best Antivirus is the one tested to have the highest detection / removal rates.

The top rated Antivirus/Spyware suite by those who test antivirus programs (av-comparitives, virus.gr, etc) is Kaspersky

(I have used this to clean up machines that nothing else would work on.

download a 30 day free trial here.

After cleaning up your computer I suggest buying it (I’ve seen it on Amazon for under $30), if you can’t afford it then These 3 free tools will help you keep your computer clean ~ Patrick

The Top Rated Free Antivirus Program researched from  those who test Antivirus programs (av comparatives, virus.gr, and other reviews including this video review)  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KhXZo3dHu...  is

    Avira Antivir    http://www.download.com/Avira-AntiVir-Pe...

Today you are in more danger from Spyware

The 2 top programs for removing spyware are SuperAntispyware and Malwarebytes

Note Stay away from Norton's because along with low detection rates it will slow your system to a crawl.

Stay away from AVG as it also has low detection rates.

  8. I've used several different anti-XXXX suites (Norton, MacAfee, Avast!, etc).  The one I like best for Windows is Avast!  It runs on all versions of Windows, including the 32 and 64 bit

Avast! is at: http://www.avast.com/  and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Avast!

It updates automatically and actually can tell you with a voice when updates occur.  It is like "You've got mail" on AOL, with Avast! it says "Virus database updated."  It seems to occur several times a week, even a couple of times a day.  They really are actively supporting the product from both a virus database and programming perspective.

As for Norton and MacAfee, their suites are OK but they seem to take over the CPU and RAM.  Honestly, I bought my computers to do the work I need done and yes, I want to be secure.  Yet, both MacAfee and Norton will start up tasks that cause the machine to grind to a halt.

Avast!, on the other hand, plays nicely with my work load.  Plainly put isn't a hog and remembers why bought the computer (e.g. writing, accounting, programming, E-Mailing, gaming, surfing, etc).

As for Spy-ware, I use Microsoft Defender, which again works with all versions of Windows.  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_Def...

As for the firewall, I use the firewall in my router.

Good luck and I'm glad you're looking at computing / surfing safely!

NOTE:  You can fully trust Avast!  It is by a corporation that sells this version to other corporations.  They are providing it, though, for free to home users.

  10. I have a solution:

Kick the PC physically till the sides are dent. Then say that the PC dropped and beg your mom to buy you a Vista.

    It works.
