Which is the best area of motreal to stay in for shops bars restaurants etc?

Outremont, mile end (right beside outremont) and Little Italy (a little futher down from mile end) all have great bars/restaurants.  My sister and brother live in the area and when I visit them, I love to explore all the different places.  I love it so much because everything is all in walking distance!!!

It depends where you want to be but the Plateau Mont-Royal has a great variety of restaurants, shops and bars. Old Montreal is my favourite part of Montreal though.

It is a very tuff one. There are so many fabulous restaurants in Montreal, anywhere from Ville-Marie, including Vieux-Montréal and Quartier Latin, all the way to Plateau and beyond to Outremont. And it is only Centre-Ville de Montréal.

The same is true for shops...
