My husband is coming home from deployment soon and he is going to reenlist and we are looking for a post in the states (currently stationed in germany) and I'm ready to go bk home!!! but i don't want him to get deployed again right away if we stay here (in germany ) he'll get a position where he will be deployment free for three years, but there's nothing like being home.Does anyone have any suggestions we are in desperate need and we have to move fast before he comes home. Also if this helps he is a specialist and a 92 alpha.

  1. Fort Myers, Virginia / Pentagon

In Germany I would try for Garmicsh Partenkirchen or Grafenwoehr. Believe it or not, Graf is an awsome place to be stationed.

  2. Fort Carson, Co.  or  Fort Lewis, Wa.

Everyone says that those are the two nicest bases in the military. I hear everyone saying that if they reenlist their gunna pick Carson or Lewis.

I would figure Fort Bragg is a nice base and it's in NC. So theres a plus. But he has to be airborne cause it's an Airborne Unit.

The worst crime rate on a base is in Fort Hood, TX. Dont go there lol.

  3. The best Army post in the United States is White Sands Missile Range, New Mexico. 30 minutes from the city of El Paso, Texas,  small post, 30 minutes outside Las Cruces, New Mexico, 45 minutes from White Sands National Monument, Nice golf course, New housing, and a low key environment. There aren't any training units on post so no high speed low drag drill instructors attitudes. NO combat arms units on post so no drunken fist fights.

  4. What he needs to do is find the deployment schedule for the units on the duty stations he's interested in.  Try to pick the one that's furthest out.

We recently did this and chose Ft Carson.  My husband is in Iraq now and will be PCSing to a lifecycle unit when he gets back.  On the one hand, it means he'll have another guaranteed deployment coming up about a year after he reports.  On the other, at least we know we'll get maybe a whole year.

That's the optempo now.  There is no 'guaranteed' or even 'likely' place of no deployment.  It sucks, I know.  Trust me, I know.  The best thing for him to do is ask around.  Ask about which divisions/brigades are deploying.

    Good luck to you,
