Vadodara has the best vegetarian food in the world.  Try Canara coffee house and Kansar restaurants.  There is also a pizza hut if you are craving for a vegetarian pizza.  Fatejung has good bakeries for cakes and they also make egg free cake for the vegetarian population.  Obviously Dilip Khaman house in Karelibaug is the best place in the world if you want sev khamni.  d**n I miss sev khamni.  J.K sweet mart has good sweets.  I forgot the name of that place that has awesome bhakarwadis.  There are lots of other places, you ought to go there and try it out.  It is 7 hour train ride (4 hour in Shatabdi) from Bombay on the Western Railways or you can hop on to a 45 minute flight from Bombay.  Afterall, there is a reason why Vadodara is called the sanskar nagri (cultural center) of Gujarat.

Oh by the way, don't forget to try out traditional Gujarati dishes like the Undhiu (I know the Surtis get the credit here), Malpuda, dhokla, Kansar, Handvo, patterwel na bhajia, etc.
