Hello, I am Swiss and I'll come in Australia in September to improve my english. I have to choose the city I'll stay and I'm hesitating between Perth and Sydney. I really would like to go to Perth but I don't want to be bored after 1-2 months.[ I red that Perth is the most isolated city in the world (and the sunniest too :D )

So which city do you think is the best to choose? Perth? Sydney? Or maybe an other one? Thank you :)

  1. Go to Perth.

  2. They are both beautiful, fun cities.  I don't think you could get bored in either place. Perth is a bit more laid back, Sydney is a bit more fast-paced.  Even though Perth is isolated, there are a lot of places you can visit from there - Margaret River, Rottnest Island, Ningaloo Reef, Broome  etc.etc.

If there is one thing I recommend you do before you go home it would be an adventure tour across the Kimberlies  (Broome to Darwin).  I did this once with a small group of people (including a Swiss guy) and they all thought it was the best thing they had ever done in their whole life.  Just be prepared to rough it.  You go in a 4 wheel drive, sleep out in swags (no tents), cook over an open fire, bathe in waterholes and under waterfalls, there are no toilets (obviously) and you will see the most amazing wildlife and scenery.

  3. I would definitely say Sydney.

Perth is very pretty, but I doubt you could have fun for 1-2 months.

Sydney has a very active nightlife, and there are so many attractions, and because of this more tourists.

And, therefore, more places where you could learn English!

Perth is more a place for older people to visit.

    Sydney:)

  4. Sydney

  5. Well, I have never actually been to Perth but it seems to be more isolated and laid back then Sydney. For learning English, I'm not sure what Perth would be like but Sydney would be great. There are a lot of courses and people to talk to because so many people in Sydney have English as a second language. Also, it would be very hard to get bored in Sydney. There is always a lot to do and it is close driving distance from a lot of other places, including Canberra.
