  1. This is too open ended to answer.  It is like asking what is the best country to visit.  Best for what?

Young children?  Disney, Carnival, Royal Caribbean

Older children?  Carnival, Norwegian or Royal Caribbean

Upper scale with reasonable prices?  Princess, Holland America or Celebrity

    Luxury?  Crystal, Silversea, Seabourn, Regent

Activities for adults?  Carnival, Royal Caribbean, Norwegian

Families?  Carnival, Royal Caribbean or Norwegian

Ship board activities?  Carnival, Royal Caribbean or Norwegian

    Food?  Crystal, Silversea, Seabourn, Regent

There is no "best" cruise line, there are just some cruise lines that do certain things better than others.  What are you looking for?

  2. First of all the "best cruise" is rather personal to each individual based on their preferences.  There are two parts to consider when you want to determine what the best cruise is for you.

Part one is the on ship time and the getting there; time spent enjoying activities on the ship like the pools, hot tub, gymnasium, clubs and disco, shows and the various sports activities available on various ships like basketball court, rock climbing wall, mini-golf, roller blading, bowling, water slide, table tennis, pool table, ice skating, etc.  Also time spent just relaxing with a book reading or listening to your music player, or just people watching.  Part one also includes enjoying all of the great free food that's available 24/7 and also whether the cruise is more formal or more casual.

Part two would be the activities off of the ship in ports including all types of water sports like jet skiing, para-sailing, snorkeling, scuba diving, swimming with the dolphins or sting rays, or more adventurous things like taking a jeep safari, or doing a zip line over a jungle or water.  Included in part two would be visits to historical places like Mayan ruins, or the Vatican and Colosseum in Rome, the tower of Pisa in Pisa.

So you need to decide first what type activities you want on ship and then decide on destinations like Caribbean for water related things, Mediterranean for historical things, or Alaska for scenery and different types of experiences.

If you want fun activities on ship go for cruises on Carnival, Royal Caribbean, or Norwegian.

If you want a more relaxed atmosphere on ship go on a Norwegian ship.

If you want more upscale and better food go on Royal Caribbean, Princess or Celebrity.

If you are taking young kids go on Disney, Carnival or Royal Caribbean.  If the kids are older go on Carnival, Royal Caribbean or Norwegian.

If you want to go where there are few kids go on Celebrity, Princess or Holland America AND do not do a Caribbean cruise.

If you want to be with other young people ages 20 to 35 go on Carnival, Royal Caribbean or Norwegian.

If you want an all inclusive cruise with drinks included and more personal service then go on a high end cruise line like Seabourne, Crystal or Silverseas (these lines cost about double what the others will cost).

If you want historical stuff to see go Mediterranian or Panama Canal.

So you can use these options and pick the best cruise for you.  My personal favorite among almost 20 cruises I have done on 4 different cruise lines is Royal Caribbean and my favorite cruises were the Mediterranean and the Panama Canal.

  3. I myself have been on 4 Royal Caribbean Cruises and have had a blast every time. When I first went cruising, I was 7 and am now 16 and getting excited to go cruising in April. Royal Caribbean has plenty to offer for kids of all ages, lots of entertainment and activities onboard, which gives adults time to themselves. I would say RCCL is a great choice. It has great ships, ports, and many things to do.

I have also been to Disneyworld many times too, but I can't say I've been cruising with them. I would think however, that a Disney cruise would be a great idea for families with young children.
