This is a definite question of preference. I know tons of people who prefer Cs2, but I love CS3. There are not tons of differences, but CS3 is the most recent.

That would be CS3 - CS4 is still in beta stage.

What can you do in Photoshop CS3 - that depends on what your abilities are. If your a pro - LOTS.

If your not a pro then not as much.

CS3 is the most updated version. CS3 Extended is the 'best' version, since it comes with extra tools for video editing and 3d CG.

The new features in Photoshop CS3 (the latest version) really makes it the best to work with in my opinion. The learning curve compared to CS2 is there, but that's expected of adobe products. But it doesn't take long at all to get used to. It's hard for me to go back to CS2 on my other computer since I've been using CS3.
