  2. You cannot classify any plan as the best. It depends on your requirements and the cost incurred for the plan.

Now LIC has introduced a UNIT LINKED HEALTH INSURANCE PLAN called HEALTH PLUS.

you can get DAILY HOSPITAL CASH BENEFIT, MAJOR SURGICAL BENEFIT and  DOMICILLIARY TREATMENT.

The amount can be your choice. and you will get back the amount grown in fund at the time of maturity. This cover is available upto the age 65 along with your spouse and any number of children.

  3. To be fair the best person to give you the correct answer would be an insurance advisor.

Most new private sector insurance companies at present have a negative net worth.

You may find the public sector insurance companies a better bet as over the years they have built up large reserves and would be in a better position to promptly pay you in case of a claim on your part.

You could check with LIC of India, New India Assurance, amongst others.

  4. Hopeless. Every insurance company is prepared to pay you only when you die. All these companies make us fools. One day there is going to be big scam in share market and every investor is going to lose their money where as the insurance companies are going to escape. So don't invest in insurance companies. Instead invest in land.
