  1. Are saying, "all in California?" I'd guess Central Region. Deserts are hot & dry, mountains are rocky, and the coast of California is young and has poor soils compared to the Central Valley.

  2. Central

  3. desert is great for produce. irrigation can be controlled better in a dry climate. as long as there is water available to irrigate

  4. Honestly, it depends what you are growing. California has a lot of different kinds of weather up and down it. Southern CA has the worst weather changes, and Norther is a very green place w/ lots of rain.

But, you can pretty much grow anything anywhere in CA. I would probably go w/ Central because it doesn't get the extremes of the weather like the other places do.

  5. I found a good page at the California Department of Food and Agriculture.  It's in PDF and a bit lengthy, but scan through it to find the yield per acre for various counties.  I don't know the county locations within California, but if you are a Californian and don't know, a good map should help you out there.  It's a long article to read, but scan it for the info you're needing and I think you'll find some good data.

  6. All depends on what you are growing and then how good the actual land is in the area. Regions are good generalizations only but the great plains has had some great soils if they are being cared for and not depleated; central region. No web site needed, as this is common sense. Keep in mind though that each region has some superior areas for specific crops.
