Which is the best free anti virus programme?

I have avg at the moment but i am having problems all the time with the update manager!

it keeps saying bin file missing

want to get rid!!

Spybot as mentioned by another poster, is anti-spyware, not anti-virus.

Loads of people have the bin file problem at the moment, it will be sorted out by AVG.

AVG is by far the best free one, so stick with it.

I prefer Kaspersky internet security but it is not perfect sometimes even it is updated and activated, new virus attacks my pc

avast is the best free one...avg has allot of problems constantly and doesn't seem to find everything. avast uses less memory and I have never found any bugs in it...their support forum is very helpful and it doesn't look like its as plagued with bugs as avg's is.

I used to have avg but changed to Stopzilla and my computer has speeded up. I'm not a techie, so I don't know, but speed does seem to be a reasonable parameter to use.

Due to the widespread nature of the problem, the AVG update problem will likely be resolved in the next few days, so I wouldn't be too critical of it at this stage.

EDIT:  I personally am currently using Kaspersky Internet Security 2009, Version 8.0.0.454 and it is extremely good.  There is a free 30 day trial available here:  http://www.kaspersky.com/trials

After 30 days you have to buy it, but still, a 30 day trial is twice the length of most internet security vendors, including Zone Labs and Symantec.

is trend micro i have it and it works trust me itll clean all recent virus and let u know when u have any and stop coming in virus its pricy thou but its worth it
