  1. I use ancestry.co.uk /.com I have the world deluxe membership and I wouldn't go back to genesreunited EVER, in my opinion it's rubbish, but that is only down to my experience of using  genesreunited  a couple of years ago.

It think that the BMD on ancestry.co.uk is the best on the Internet, they are up to  31st December 2005 now, it really is amazing.

  2. I am a member of both

Neither is really better than the other as each offers different things.

By using both they compliment each other

  3. I would say Ancestry is the better site, but the trick is to use several sites so that the information can be double checked.

  4. Ancestry.co.uk, Genesreunited is only info posted by members and is only their interest. Ancestry is a true record of government data, but it costs a small sum of money. I use it.

  5. Lol. I just checked out that genesreunited site and got a bit excited when I found some people who's ancestors exactly match mine. But of closer inspection I think they match because they have copied the public tree I have put on Ancestry.

I have entered my grandfather on Ancestry but none of his 10 siblings and theirs in exactly the same.

Lucky for them my tree is pretty accurate  :-)

Guess they must be related in some way to go to all that trouble entering the information.

  6. Maybe it depends on what you are looking for.

But if you want to research your ancestors, Ancestry has a lot of info, and more added all the time.

  7. I personally find GR easier to navigate around, but it's all down to personal taste, and what website layouts work for you. I tried Ancestry, but I never got the hang of it. For those who are saying Ancestry has more to offer, GR offers the same things. I should know; I use it.

And the comment about GR only having personal accounts from other members is complete c**p. They have all the census records, all BMD records and military records, amongst many more.

  8. Ancestry.com as they have a larger collection but genes reunited is good for contacting other researchers who are researching your tree so my advice is join both
