Me and my brother want a hamster each. These will be our first ever hamsters so we don't have much experience. I don't know which breed is best. Everyone says roborovski hamsters are harder to catch and they are harder to train. Is a gold hamster better? Is a normal hamster better? Remember, i want 2 of the same s*x. Thankyou :)

  1. For a first time hamster I would definitely suggest a Syrian. I have had lots of hamsters and found these to be the easiest to tame and also they are bigger they are easier to handle. I didn't have a lot of confidence with the my dwarf hamsters as they were so fast, I also found that these were the most likely to bite.

However if you go decide on syrians they are territorial and should not be kept in the same cage, no matter how big the cage is as they will fight and it will result in death.

Have fun with which ever hamster you decide to get.

  2. Let me introduce you to the 5 types of Hamsters-

Syrian. These are the most common, the same as normal, european, teddy, and longhair/ shorthair. These are the biggest and easiest to handle, but will attack other hamsters.

Winter White. These are hardly ever found in pet stores, but anyway they change colours in thw winter (get the name) but are sometimes nippy. They trigger alot of allergic reactions, despite their small size.

Russian Dwarf. These hamsters are the second most common, they are small, fast and very entertaining. They can live in same s*x pairs in the same cage if you want. This is your choice if you want a hamster more for watching than cuddling.

Chinese. These are rare at pet stores. They are super quick and docile, and don't like to be put together with other hamsters. They are the only breed that has long tails, which are pretty big considering their size.

Robovorski. They are the tiniest, quick, and wake up in the early morning. I don't reccomend these for first time owners.

My personal choice? Syrian. Big and cuddly, they live the longest and won't escape. Keep in mind though, you will need seperate cages for the two, or they will kill each other.

  3. Get two teddy bear hamsters then! :D

  4. Syrians, the teddy bears are the sweetest of them all. They also are the biggest. They come in many colors, and live about 2 years. Must live alone.

  5. why not a winter white, they are pack hamsters and are easy to look after and they are extreamly friendly and easy to hadly and play with, their coats change colours depending on what season it is and they are awake for periods during the day plus they are quite small, because they are dwarfs...so they're cute aswell! lol good luck :D

  6. teddy bear hamster, long haired hamster,Dwarf hamster. I think they would all be good
