Murud is about 5 hrs frm Mumbai via road.  Its beautiful and best part is that it is not crowded like Alibaug. The forts are worth a dekho and the beaches are clean and untouched. The food is yum and what i like best is that most mobile networks dont have coverage there :P

Nestling in the Western Ghats, the Flamingo Hill Resort and sanctuary attracts trekkers and mini-adventure tourists like magnet. The beauty of the resort lies in its forested environs and monsoon lakes where orange and white flamingos make their abode in monsoon every year. The Flamingo Hill Resort is surrounded by misty hills, placid monsoon lakes and cool, fragrant forests.

For the hikers, trekkers, and history lovers, the journey to Shivenri Fort, the birthplace of Raja Shivaji, is memorable. This unusual hill has Buddhist caves dating to the 3rd century and is surmounted by an important historic fort - Harishchandraghadh situated at an altitude of almost 1,424 metres is interesting to climb. Those interested in religious journey can travel to Ozar and Lenyadri, two Ganesh temples honoured by all devotees. There is a centuries old shrine of Shiva - Bhimashankar, which is set at the origin of the river Bhima. All these temples are at a close distance.
