I've been doing karate for over eight years, but from people's experiences, which is the best martial art for self-defense? I know they're all good in their own way, but which can prove to be the deadliest when used in a fight?

  1. There is no "best."

You don't want "deadly" in a fight unless you want to go up on (at best) manslaughter charges. (At worst it would be murder.)

The closest you can come to "best" is:

Which person is most competent in his/her martial arts discipline?

  2. There are some different ones brazilian jiu jitsu could bevery usefull if you want something deadly because if you know what your doing them and someone  comes in for a punch you could counter it and break their arm or neck or leg or other body part.Or you could do arnis but this you would need like a stick(so just carry your arnis stick around :D)

  3. A combo of Muay Thai and Judo.  Muay Thai for the punching/kicking/knees/Elbows and Judo for the throws/locks/submissions.  That way, whatever your opponent throws at you, you'll be ready.  You don't want deadly, btw, that will just send you to jail...which then you'll really need to know how to protect yourself...especially your ***.

  4. Japanese Jiu-jitsu I'd suggest..

    Best wishes :)***

  5. Regarding which is the best, that question gets asked at least once a day. Go back and read all the earlier answers!

Regarding which is the "deadliest," I would argue none of them. Google "deadly street fight" and you will get lots of news articles about people being killed in street fights. In almost every cases they were killed by a weapon, usually a gun, after the initial fist fight. It is rare to see a "deadly" street fight that does not involve weapons.

When it does happen, it is usually the result of one person being knocked out and the other person continuing to punch or kick them while they are unconscious. Since no martial art I know of teaches you to beat an unconscious opponent to death, I don't think any can truly be called "deadly."

I suppose an art like escrima that mainly focuses on weapons would qualify as deadly...

  6. Krav maga- was designed to practically kill / seriously injure people.

Judo/BJJ - designed for more longer fights and to disable your opponent temporarily. Effective in breaking and fracturing opponents bones.

Boxing - More of a brawlers technique . Definatly useful for fist fights and against smaller , fatter , slower opponents generally with little of no fightig experice. Gaurunteed win against opponents like them <<.

Muay Thai- Basically builds your body to a "super" form. Conditions bones so you break blocks and perform un-human feats. Probably the most deadliest in ring fighting technique.

Wing Chun - Designed to wow opponents and spectators. Will probably leave everyone with their jaws dropping in awe of the amazing flips and kicks Wing Chun uses. However not really sure if its that useful in a proper street fight.

So overall Krav Maga is the most "deadliest" of all of them. Its also used by the Isreli military so its bound to work in street situations.Hope i helped.

  7. Tai Ki (tai chi) If you look at the slow breathing excersies they do it looks dull and boring but i do it and you feel so powerfull. Watch a master do it and you shall see the power and amazingness in it. Im a brown belt 1st que in karate called shukokai just to let you know.

  8. the one that wins the fight.

  9. I think karate is the most popular.

  10. hey!! ur in karate too! there's hardly any one else on here that does karate, im 2 belts from black, i do JKO- japanese karate org.

    i think karate's the best!!!!

  11. There is no best, it all comes down to the person, the instruction he has recieved, and how hard he trained.

As for deadly any martial art on the planet has techniques that can kill, but most people, unlike Bujinkan Ninja, really don't focus tooo much on it. He's deluded though so you have to make an exception.

Oh and the main goal of Krav Maga is not to kill, it is to create an oppurtunity to get away. Anyone who says this is talking out their a**. Yes t is good, but not the most deadly.

  12. shaolin long fist kung fu

it covers everythin from flexibilty strength speed u name it

    it teaches discipline

its also involves chin na and pa kua

  13. depends who you are fighting and the environment

  14. Bujinkan Ninjutsu.

To Darren E, all I've ever seen Krav Maga teach is to kick them in the nuts and run away. Hardly deadly.

  15. there is no best martial art they all have there own strengths and weaknesses and it is up to you to find a style that you enjoy and are up to the challenge of learning
